This was an exterior renovation on a craftsman home in SE Portland (Hawthorne District). We replaced the siding with Pattern 117 smooth cedar lap siding (fully primed), installed cedar shakes , installed cellulose blow in insulation, installed a cedar window/door trim package in the craftsman style, installed stained tongue & groove cedar on the entry porch ceiling, installed a Simpson craftsman door, rebuilt the front porch in a craftsman style from scratch, built a porch cover and IPE deck and painted the house with Miller Evolution paint.
Restoring older homes in Portland is a specialty of our firm as we have access to in-house crews who specialize in the restoration of older homes. Restoring older homes is time consuming and takes crews who have a high level of craftsmanship to deal with the challenges an older home presents. We love the before and after pictures that these projects present and feel good that we’ve brought some of the original craftsman flavor back to these neighborhoods.
This home was a full scale renovation as we not only added all new siding & trim we had to completely rebuild the front craftsman porch as well as add a porch cover and IPE deck in the back. Most siding companies don’t have the carpenters available to rebuild sections of an older home. Our in-house carpentry division specializes in bringing back the original elements of a craftsman home as this projects shows.
