Alside Charter Oak Seamless Vinyl Siding
“We guarantee you peace of mind”
Choosing
a qualified contractor can be a difficult thing to do. We have included
questions to ask any contractor that you are considering hiring
in order to make sure that you are dealing with a qualified professional
with your best interest in mind. Remember, you are buying the installation,
and the customer service, not just the siding.
Questions
to Ask
Q: Does you vinyl siding have seams?
LRS: No, we carry Alside Charter Oak Energy Elite seamless vinyl
siding. Unlike standard vinyl our siding comes in 25’ lengths
virtually eliminating all unsightly seams.
Q: Does your product have a solid core backing?
LRS: Yes, not only do we have a solid core backing but ours isn’t
glued to the back of our siding allowing for natural expansion and
contraction without failure. Other vinyl products have a foam backing
glued to the back of the siding which fails when the siding expands
and contracts due to heat and cold. Solid core foam also adds an
r-4 insulation value to your home which can mean savings up to 20%
off of your current energy bill.
Q: Do you tear off my existing moisture barrier
and replace it with a high quality moisture barrier?
LRS: We will completely remove your old moisture barrier and replace
it with either the Valeron Vortec or the Greenguard Raindrod with
built-in rain-screen technology.
Q: Will you seal in all of my existing windows with
Grace Rain & Ice shield or a similar product?
LRS: Yes, we seal all of your existing windows with Grace Rain &
Ice Shield to further protect your house from moisture infiltration.
Remember, leaky windows are the #1 customer complaint on a remodeling
job.
Q: What type of wind resistance does your siding
have?
LRS: Alside Charter Oak has been passed the category five hurricane
wind shear test, the designation used by the National Hurricane
Center to identify the most destructive storms.
Q: What type of fade resistance does your siding
carry?
LRS: Alside Charter Oak uses Luran S ASA polymers by BASF providing
superior fade resistance on darker colors. Fade resistance is warranted
for the life of the siding.
Q: Do you offer accessories such as upgraded corners
or window trim?
LRS: Yes. We offer the full line of trim works decorative accents
by Alside such as 3 ½” window trim, crown molding,
fluted insulated corner posts and invisivent soffit.
Q: Do you hand nail all siding leaving the appropriate
gap for expansion and contraction?
LRS: Vinyl expands and contracts more than any siding available.
You “hang” the siding making sure that it isn’t
nailed tight. If it is nailed tight it will cause the siding to
buckle and fail.
Q: Do you paint sections of the home not covered
with vinyl?
LRS: Any section that isn’t covered by vinyl will be painted
with Sherwin Williams Duration. This includes garage door trim,
trim around doors, eaves and gutters.
Q: Are all of your crews insured, are there helpers?
LRS: In this industry crew leads are often covered yet their helpers
are rarely covered under any type of insurance and are paid cash
under the table. You the homeowner are completely liable if they
get hurt. Everybody who works for us is fully insured in case of
an accident.
Q: Do you offer a lifetime warranty on your vinyl
jobs including both labor and materials.
LRS: Yes, we offer a lifetime warranty on our Seamless Vinyl Siding
jobs including labor and materials. This warranty is also transferable
to a new homeowner if you sell your house as a 50 year non pro-rated
warranty.
Q: Can you give me 15 or more references on homes
that you’ve covered with siding?
LRS: Yes, we will give you addresses and phone numbers for numerous
siding jobs that we have done in the past. In all we have resided
more than 300 homes in Oregon and Washington.
Q: Do I get a single customer service rep throughout
the entire job?
A: Yes. The person who sold you the job will also be the project
manager of the job making sure everything stated at the initial
presentation is executed by the crew doing the work.
Q: How long have you been in business?
A: We have been in business 9 years.
Q: How many complaints have you had with the Oregon CCB?
LRS: We haven’t had one registered complaint in 9 years of
business with the CCB.
