Lead Certified Renovator
As of April of 2010 all contractors who work on homes built before 1978 that have lead based paint are required to be a Lead-Certified Renovator by federal law. We are a certified RRP contractor (Renovation, Repair & Painting) allowing us to legally work on homes built before 1978 that have lead based paint. We have four certified renovators on staff and take the lead based paint issue very seriously. We use the latest testing, masking and cleanup procedures to insure that we do not spread lead dust or contaminate your home with this deadly toxin. Below you'll find some resources regarding lead based paint and the hazards that it poses especially to children ages 0-6.

Dust:The Biggest Lead Problem

The EPA maximum allowable lead level for floor dust is 39 micrograms per square foot (39 ug/ft2). If a floor test shows the level to be 40 micrograms per square foot it is considered a hazard level.

Let's explore how quickly we can reach hazard levels.

Say there is a door that contains only 1.o mg/cm2 (1 milligram per square centimeter) of lead in your paint. If you sand 1 square foot of this door you will create 929,000 micrograms of lead dust. Since 40 micrograms is the cutoff for contamination this is 928,961 micrograms above the accepted levels or "Hazard Level" of 40 micrograms allowed by federal law. The worst part is that most lead based paint has 10-30 mg per square centimeter, not 1 as used in the example above. If the same door had 10 mg per square centimeter of lead in the paint it would create 9 million micrograms of lead dust! This dust will poison you or your children and must be considered a toxic hazard, period.

Here are some resources to further educate you on the hazards of lead based paint.
